This protocol addresses a well-defined subgroup: patients with imaging evidence of cervical spinal cord compression and clinical and/or electrophysiological evidence of cervical radiculopathy, but without current signs of myelopathy. This nonmyelopathic presentation warrants a distinct, structured management approach.
MRI or equivalent imaging reveals cervical spinal cord compression. The patient has symptoms and clinical or electrophysiological findings consistent with cervical radiculopathy, yet does not present with signs of myelopathy. Nonmyelopathic patients with cord compression and clinical evidence of radiculopathy — with or without electrophysiological confirmation — form a distinct group for whom a protocol-guided approach applies.
