This protocol addresses patients with cervical cancer presenting at stage T1b3 or T2a2 — a locally advanced presentation that requires careful consideration of the optimal treatment modality. There is limited evidence to guide the choice between surgical treatment and chemoradiotherapy with image-guided brachytherapy in lymph node-negative patients at these stages.
Management of stage T1b3 or T2a2 cervical cancer involves a choice between surgical and radiation-based strategies. Radical surgery is one established option for eligible patients; alternatively, a radiation-based approach combining chemotherapy with brachytherapy may be used. A neoadjuvant strategy is also among the recognised alternatives.
