Cervical Adenocarcinoma in Situ in Pregnancy with Suspected Invasive Cancer
When cervical adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS) is diagnosed during pregnancy and clinical or histologic findings raise concern for an underlying invasive cervical cancer, standard outpatient surveillance approaches may be insufficient. This protocol addresses that specific, higher-risk scenario.
Clinical Scenario
PregnancyThe patient is pregnant and presents with cervical adenocarcinoma in situ where examination findings or biopsy results create suspicion—clinical or histologic—for invasive cervical cancer. The concurrent pregnancy is central to the management decision.
Management Approach
In this setting, a surgical excisional procedure during pregnancy is among the interventions to be considered—with additional measures taken to manage pregnancy-related risks associated with that intervention. Full protocol details, including procedural specifics and supporting evidence grades, are in the structured regimen below.
