This protocol applies to patients presenting with caustic esophageal injury whose endoscopic evaluation yields a Zargar grade of 0 through IIA — the lower end of the injury severity spectrum, where mucosal involvement is limited and deep tissue destruction is absent.

Patients with caustic esophageal injury confirmed on endoscopy at Zargar grade I or IIA. This grading indicates superficial or limited mucosal injury without evidence of deep ulceration or transmural involvement.
