This protocol addresses patients with advanced or metastatic carcinoid tumor of the thymus presenting as a typical carcinoid or with slow radiological progression, confirmed somatostatin receptor imaging (SRI) positivity, and no atypical or significantly progressive disease features.
SRI positivity is a central determinant of treatment selection in this population. Somatostatin analogues (SSAs) are the recommended first-line treatment in patients with typical carcinoid and slowly progressing advanced SRI-positive thymic carcinoid.
