Certain presentations of Burkitt's lymphoma — including spontaneous tumor lysis syndrome, advanced-stage disease (stage III or IV), and/or lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) at least twice the upper limit of normal — identify a high-risk subgroup for whom consensus guidelines specify a defined management approach.
Patients with Burkitt's lymphoma who have evidence of spontaneous tumor lysis syndrome (TLS), or who are considered high risk based on stage III/IV disease and/or LDH at least 2× the upper limit of normal.
Consensus guidelines recommend a specific pharmacological agent for this high-risk presentation. The complete protocol — including clinical parameters and sequencing — is available via the structured regimen below.

For patients with evidence of spontaneous TLS or those at high risk, defined as stage III/IV disease and/or LDH ≥2 times the upper limit of normal, consensus guidelines recommend the use of rasburicase.
