Treatment of Benign Splenic Tumor in Splenic Cyst with Confirmed Cystic Echinococcosis
This protocol addresses the management of a benign splenic tumor presenting as a splenic cyst in patients with confirmed cystic echinococcosis — that is, a splenic cystic lesion in which hydatidosis serology has returned positive.
The patient presents with a splenic cyst in which cystic echinococcosis has been confirmed by positive hydatidosis serology. This positive serological finding defines the specific surgical and parasitological context that must be taken into account before any intervention.
In cases of cystic lesions, echinococcosis laboratory testing is required prior to surgery. When the initial work-up is negative yet clinical and radiological findings remain suggestive, a specialised parasitological consultation is recommended.
