Treatment of Benign Heart Tumor in Cardiac Myxoma
Clinical Scenario
This protocol addresses the management of a benign heart tumor presenting as cardiac myxoma — the most common primary cardiac tumor (PCT) in adults, responsible for approximately half of all PCTs.
Condition
Cardiac myxoma is a benign intracavitary tumor arising most often in the left atrium. Its high prevalence among primary cardiac tumors makes it the prototypical PCT in clinical practice.
Treatment Approach (partial)
The established primary intervention for cardiac myxoma involves a surgical approach targeting complete removal of the tumor.
