A Spigelian hernia is a protrusion through a defect in the aponeurosis of the transverse abdominal muscle limited by the semilunar line and the lateral edge of the rectus muscle.
It is suggested to repair a Spigelian hernia with the use of mesh. An open or laparoscopic approach may be used, based on the surgeon's expertise.
