• Topical glucocorticoids (preferably class II, short-term or interval therapy)
• Topical calcineurin inhibitors (tacrolimus)
• Tap water iontophoresis
• Antipruritic and antiseptic agents
• Tannins
• Topical glucocorticoids shall be used as short-term first-line therapy for the treatment of HE.
• Tacrolimus 0.1 % ointment improves symptom control compared to vehicle after three weeks (14/14 tacrolimus versus 0/14 vehicle).
