This protocol applies to patients with stage IVA or IVB anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) in whom complete or near-complete surgical removal of the tumor is anticipated, with no evidence of distant metastatic disease and good performance status.
Anaplastic thyroid cancer, stage IVA or IVB, with a resectable primary tumor and anticipated R0 (negative microscopic margins) or R1 (gross resection achieved) surgical outcome. No distant metastatic disease. Good performance status.
The management of resectable ATC in this setting centres on surgical resection as the primary intervention. The goal is complete visible tumor removal — complete resection (R0 or R1), rather than debulking, defines what constitutes a surgically appropriate candidate.
The complete structured regimen — including surgical specifics and subsequent management steps — is available in the full protocol.
