Treatment of Acute Myocarditis in Eosinophilic Myocarditis

Eosinophilic myocarditis is a recognised subtype of acute myocarditis. Its management requires a specific clinical approach that addresses the myocardial inflammation while also targeting any identifiable associated condition driving the eosinophilic process.

Clinical scenario: Acute myocarditis occurring in the setting of eosinophilic myocarditis — a subtype defined by eosinophilic involvement of the myocardium, which may be associated with an underlying identifiable condition.

Treatment approach

The first-line strategy centres on corticosteroid therapy, following an approach comparable to that used in lymphocytic myocarditis, combined with treatment of the eosinophilic myocarditis–associated condition when one is identified. The full regimen — including the criteria distinguishing non-severe from severe presentations and the complete therapeutic sequence — is available in the structured protocol.
