Treatment of Relapsed or Primary Refractory Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

This protocol addresses patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) who have either failed to achieve remission with initial therapy (primary refractory) or who have relapsed following a prior response. Both situations represent a high-risk population requiring a distinct management approach.

Relapsed or primary refractory ALL (R/R ALL) affects a significant proportion of patients. Depending on the treatment protocol and disease subtype, 5% to 10% of patients will be primary refractory, and an additional 30% to 60% of patients will relapse after achieving an initial remission.

For patients with R/R ALL, the management strategy includes consideration of a transplantation-based intervention as a core component of the plan.
