Treatment of Axillary Accessory Breast Tissue Solely Comprised of Fat with No Skin Laxity

When axillary accessory breast tissue is composed entirely of fat and presents without skin laxity, this is classified as a grade 1 presentation. The absence of glandular tissue and skin excess defines a specific and well-characterised treatment pathway.

Clinical Scenario

Axillary breast tissue solely comprised of fat with no skin laxity (grade 1). No glandular component is present, and the overlying skin is not redundant.

Treatment Approach

For this grade 1 presentation, both noninvasive body contouring techniques and a surgical option targeting the axillary fat are considered — with important patient counselling points around treatment course.

Full treatment selection, sequencing, and protocol details are available in the structured regimen below.

If the axillary breast tissue is solely comprised of fat with no skin laxity, we consider this "grade 1" (Fig. 4), and suggest CoolSculpting, Kybella, or liposuction for treatment (Table 6).

For noninvasive treatments such as CoolSculpting or Kybella, patients must be made aware that multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve their desired results.
